Customizing your Facebook and Twitter

As with most businesses, we focus so much energy on working for our clients that we neglect our own business.  We are always telling people to blog regularly (yet we don’t do it as much as we should).  We are coming up with ways for our clients Facebook pages to stand out and look professional (yet we don’t even have extended info on ours).  Well, we are changing our ways and are making our own social media marketing development a priority!  Recently we added a custom season-appropriate background to our Twitter profile using parts of our holiday card design.

We are also putting a little time and energy into updating our Facebook page for H&H Web.  We will be adding custom fbml tabs to our page soon and have already updated our Facebook photo.

Here is what we used to have up:

And here is what we have up now:

Facebook Photo

Believe it or not it is incredibly easy to put a large professional looking photo up on your page!  If you have someone already designing your promotional material you could have them do this for you or if you have any skills at all in photoshop you can do it yourself.

Basically all that you need is a jpeg that is sized to a maximum of 200 pixels x 600 pixels.  It doesn’t have to be 600 pixels long but if you make it any larger than that Facebook will automatically resize it for you and you won’t get the large image that you are aiming for.  Our image is about 200 x 500 pixels because 600 pixels was just too long and narrow for what  we wanted.

So, to recap:  Find an image that you like that represents your business, add your logo and a tag line to it and size it down so that it is 200 pixels wide.  Then just upload it to Facebook as your new profile pic!

If you have any questions let us know.  We can’t wait to see what you come up with.
